CURRICULUM
Doctor in Medicine and Surgery, graduating from the University of Navarre and Specialist in Internal Medicine (MIR). He has been Head of the Internal Medicine Service at the Hospital of La Rioja and the San Millan-San Pedro Hospital Complex in La Rioja. Currently, as well as managing the Special Pathogens Laboratory (Centre for Rickettsiosis and Diseases Transmitted by Arthropod Vectors) and the Unit of Research into HIV at the CIBIR, he is also the Head of the Infectious Diseases Service at the new San Pedro Hospital in La Rioja.
He has more than 300 scientific publications to his credit and he has directed numerous research projects and clinical trials. He is also a member of numerous Scientific Committees and Committees of Experts in International Scientific Journals, as well as Evaluation Agencies. He has received numerous awards, both scientific and of a social character, and his group has done pioneering work in the description of previously undescribed diseases (DEBONEL), as well as in the isolation and implication of new microorganisms in human pathology (Rickettsia monacensis or the new Rickettsia rioja).
