She was awarded by the Rafael del Pino grant (Spain) and by the Robert-Turner Scholarship from Green College (Oxford University).

Thanks to her postdoctoral stay at the University of Oxford, she gained experience in the transcriptomic analysis of human samples and their association with plasma parameters. In fact, she is an expert in multiple data processing. After this stay, she returned to Spain and joined the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra as Assistant Professor. In 2009 she joined the Infectious Diseases, Microbiota and Metabolism Unit at the CIBIR leaded by Dr. Oteo. She is developing her activity there as Lab manager and Post-Doctoral Researcher. She is also a Lecturer in Physiology and Biochemistry at the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at the University of La Rioja, and collaborates with the Master of Chemistry and Biotecnology and the European Master in Food Science, Nutrition and Metabolism (University of La Rioja and University of Navarra respectively). She holds the ANECA accreditation for Profesor Titular (2015), Profesor Contratado Doctor, Profesor de Universidad Privada and Profesor Ayudante Doctor (2009).

Dr. Pérez-Matute holds the type C and B accreditation for Animal experimentation. Dr. Pérez-Matute is an expert in the field of nutrition and metabolism (mainly focused on adipose tissue and liver physiology and function). Currently, Patricia expertise has been focused on the study of microbiota and in the analysis of data obtained from last-generation technologies (transcriptomic, lipidomic etc). As result of this scientific career, she has published more than 40 articles in PubMed and she has also published several book chapters and more than 80 communications to national and international congresses. She has supervised several Master Thesis, 3 Doctoral Thesis and is currently supervising another two, one of them in collaboration with the Hospital San Pedro. She has participated in 20 national and international projects and she has been the Principal Investigator of La Rioja team in a trans-pyreneean project focused on gut microbiota composition in obese rats.
