Alfredo Urtubia
Born in Logroño (La Rioja, Spain), Alfredo holds a Bachelor Degree in Biotechnology from the University of León (Spain), obtained after previously studying Agricultural Engineering in the University of La Rioja. He also holds an MSc in Systems Biology from the University of Edinburgh (UK). Since October 2018, he is a doctoral student in the Group of Lung Cancer and Respiratory Diseases in the CIBIR, under the supervision of Drs. José G. Pichel and Icíar López. The main theme of his PhD is the implication of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) in the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), with the aim of investigating the mechanisms of action involved and the search for possible therapeutic targets, as well as evaluating components of the IGF system as biomarkers in EPOC pacients.
