Born in Madrid (Spain), Icíar Paula López García graduated in Biology (1998) and in Biochemistry (1999) and obtained her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Navarra (Spain, 2004), under the supervision of Dr. Carlos de Miguel. She subsequently joined the Applied Medical Research Centre (CIMA) at the University of Navarra, where she has carried out two post-doctoral projects in the area of Neurosciences, focusing mainly on the study of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Schizophrenia (Torres-Quevedo grant) and Parkinson’s Disease (CIBER project).
As an expert in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology and Morphology techniques, on January 2010, Dr. IP López incorporated to the Lung Cancer and Respiratory Diseases Group of the CIBIR, where she investigates the implication of IGFs in pulmonary physiology and disease.
She has published several articles in international scientific journals, has trained PhD students and now she is co-directing a doctoral thesis. She is a member of SEBBM/FEBS and of SEPAR/ERS.
